World Cups after World War TwoThe 1950 World Cup was hosted in Brazil and was first to include British participants.This tournament also saw the return of Uruguay. Uruguay ended up winning by beating Brazil, the host nation in a match called "Maracanazo". From 1934 to 1978 there was sixteen teams that competed, except for 1938 when Austria was absorbed by Germany after qualifying leaving 15 teams, and in 1950 when India, Scotland, and Turkey withdrew leaving only 13 teams.
